'I only went out for a walk and finally concluded to stay out 'til sundown, for going out, I found was really going in.' John Muir

I've seen the top of Everest (from a long way off), smelled the breath of a whale (from way too close) and lived on a boat in Greece (for a few years), but I continue to experience some of my most precious moments right outside my backdoor.

The Slow Tourist Book

Here is my new book -

The Slow Tourist at home - epic adventures without going very far.

I wrote it when I realized that although I'd seen Everest (from a distance), lived on a boat in Greece (for a few years) and smelled the breath of a whale (from way too close), when a friend came to stay and wanted to see where I lived, I didn't really know my own patch.  I was so amazed at what I found, I started writing this blog and then the idea for this little book was born.

It's full of suggestions about getting to know your own patch, slowly of course! The Sleepy Sparrow accompanies you on your doorstep adventures and offers SloMos (Slow Moments) - suggestions to help you slow down and enjoy your adventures even more.  And there are spaces for you to write your discoveries, thoughts and doodles.

It's available via the Blurb Bookshop at
http://www.blurb.co.uk
just search for The Slow Tourist at home and you'll find it.  (You can preview it here too)

Or you can contact me on
sleepysparrow@yahoo.co.uk  (£5 including UK postage).

It is also now available in the lovely little shop at Clwyd Theatre Cymru in Mold.

'Some people are already booking their places on the next rocket ship to Mars. Before we zoom off to distant planets, let's get to know what's on our own doorsteps.
The best bit is, there'll be no passports, no packing, no unpacking, no strange beds, no queues and
no Martians!'
